J.M.W. (Joseph Mallord William) Turner was an eccentric English Romantic landscape artist who found beauty in the subjects of shipwrecks, fires (such as the burning of the Parliament in 1834, an event which Turner rushed to witness first-hand, and which he transcribed in a series of watercolour sketches), natural catastrophes, and natural phenomena such as sunlight, storm, rain, and fog. He was fascinated by the violent power of the sea, which can be seen in quite a few of his paintings. His portrayal of light in his paintings is beautiful and his self portrait of himself portrays him as pretty sexy too ;)
