The Iranian campaign Kurd Men for Equality began on April 15 2013 when a man convicted of domestic abuse was sentenced to wear women’s clothing as a form of public humiliation. The movement’s tagline is ‘Being a woman is not a way for humiliation or punishment.’

When feminist organisation the Marivan Women’s Community held a protest against the misogynistic ruling, the Kurd Men for Equality joined them, many in women’s clothing.

The aim of the campaign is to show that being a woman, or wearing ‘women’s’ clothing is not and should never be considered shameful, punishment, or humiliating.
